SIM900A IOT Prototype For The PAM Billing System Using The Water Flow Method

Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a dynamic global network infrastructure, enabling the configuration of interoperable communication standards and protocols in which physical and virtual objects have identities, physical attributes, as well as virtual characteristics. They use intelligent interfaces and are integrated into the network. One of the essential needs for all living creatures in this world is water. Water is not only important for humans, but also for animals and plants. In Purwoyoso Village, which is located in Ngaliyan District, the irrigation system relies on artificial wells sourced from Mount Kendil to meet the daily needs of the community. This artistic well is different from a dipper well or PDAM, especially in that the water source is produced through drilling an impermeable layer. However, there are problems in using artetic water related to meter calculations (usage standards). Currently, the calculation process is still carried out manually by officers who make regular visits to customers' homes at the end of each month to record water usage and provide payment receipts. This often results in inaccurate recording, difficulty in accessing meters located behind the house, and prolongs the payment process. To overcome this problem, the author was inspired to develop a tool using modern IoT-based technology, namely the Artetis Water Bill Information System with Water Flow and Sim900A in Purwoyoso Village, Semarang. This system allows communities to manage water use more efficiently and effectively, thereby maintaining human survival and optimizing the use of water resources.
